Marshfield library to host MarioKart tournament

MARSHFIELD – The Ventress Memorial Library will host a MarioKart tournament Saturday, Sept. 24, from 1 to 4 p.m. at 15 Library Plaza. The competition is for gamers ages 10 to 18 with a prize for the winner. To register or for more information, visit ventresslibrary.org.

Braintree block party to be held Sunday

BRAINTREE  – A block party will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at Watson Park on Gordon Road. The free, all-ages event is sponsored by Mayor Charles Kokoros, the East Braintree Civic Association and the Braintree Recreation Department. Activities will include music, bouncy houses and games. Hot dogs, hamburgers, snacks and water will be available. Scottish band to play free concert at Crane Library

QUINCY –  A concert  by Scottish folk band North Sea Gas is scheduled for  3 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 25, at the Thomas Crane Public Library, 40 Washington St. North Sea Gas is one of Scotland's most popular folk bands and has won several Gold and Silver Disc awards. New series at library to feature local leaders

MARSHFIELD – A new series for adults called "Community Coffee Hour" will start Monday, Sept. 26, at 5 p.m. at Ventress Memorial Library, 15 Library Plaza. Each monthly event will feature a conversation with a different community leader. Teresa Flynn, public health nurse for Marshfield, will be the first guest. Coffee, tea and light refreshments will be served. Registration is not required. Group sets fairy tale to music

BROCKTON – The local chapter of the American Guild of Organists and the Arts at Christ Church in Brockton will present  "Peter and the Wolf" set to music at 1 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 2, 1350 Pleasant St. The show will be performed by Nicole Marane on pipe organ, Daniel Alves on percussion and Matt Cunningham from Brockton High School as narrator. The free concert runs for about an hour and is ideal for children ages 4 and up. Nursery care is available for infants and toddlers. Scenes from Shakespeare to be performed at Crane Library

QUINCY –  Shakespearean performers Stephen Collins and Poornima Kirby will perform a rescheduled show called "Shake-scene" from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 23, at the Thomas Crane Public Library at 40 Washington St. The performance will include scenes and monologues from "Macbeth," "Taming of the Shrew," "Henry V" and "Julius Caesar." Garcia, of Braintree, a partner at Morrison Mahoney LLP in Boston, was elected president of the Massachusetts Bar Association for the 2022-23 membership year, which began Sept. 1. Michael H.
