'Disney's Newsies Jr.' comes to Thibodaux
Thibodaux Playhouse will stage "Disney's Newsies Jr.", a 60-minute version of the 2012 Broadway musical based on the 1992 film.
Aimed at children 4 and older, it's inspired by the true story of newsboys in turn-of-the-century New York City.

Performances are scheduled for 7 p.m. this Tuesday through Saturday at the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve, 314 Saint Mary St.

Christian entertainment
Christian actor and entertainer Trevor Thomas will deliver a free performance at 6:15 p.m. Wednesday at Coteau Baptist Church, 2066 Coteau Road.
His nationally touring live act includes music, comedy and dramatic sketches. Thomas creates characters people can laugh at, cry with and learn from.

Crawfish and fireworks
Bring the family to enjoy an all-day concert, a crawfish cook-off, jump houses, obstacle courses, face painting, food trucks and an end-of-night fireworks show.
The Freedom Fest Crawfish Boil Cook-Off is scheduled for 11 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. Saturday at Fletcher Technical Community College, 1407 La. 311, Schriever.
The event is being organized by South Louisiana Veteran Outreach in Houma.
Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for kids under 12 and free for children 2 or younger.

Learn to cast a line
Residents 4 and older can learn how to cast a line and get other fishing tips during a free workshop June 29 in Thibodaux.
It's scheduled for 1-2 p.m. at the Jean Lafitte National Historical Park & Preserve, 314 St. Mary St.

Lafourche Library staff members will lead the workshop. The Louisiana Wildlife and Fisheries Department will provide the equipment.

Wedding Expo
Check out some of the latest trends in fashion, food and photography at the Houma Wedding Expo.
It's scheduled for 6-9 p.m. at the Barry P. Bonvillain Civic Center, 346 Civic Center Blvd.
Admission is $10 at the door.
