Coming together: Poconos community raises $3,000 for Toys for Joy

Thanks to the unified efforts of Pocono Record, Tri-County Independent, AllOne Charities and the generous people of the Poconos, this year's Toys for Joy campaign was able to raise a total of $3,000 for the benefit of families across the area.

With Pocono Record joining forces with our sister paper, the Tri-County Independent — which serves readers in Wayne, eastern Lackawanna, and northern Pike Counties — we were able to broaden our reach to help even more families in need have a merry Christmas.

Households and individuals throughout northeastern Pennsylvania were able to raise $2,036 thanks to Pocono Record readers, along with $400 from Tri-County Independent readers.

A $500 contribution from Stroud Township Volunteer Fire Department shows not only are these folks wonderful first responders, but true patrons of the Christmas spirit for families across the Poconos.

AllOne Charities graciously rounded up the sum to a total of $3,000, which will go to the Pleasant Valley Ecumenical Network, an organization that provides assistance to low income families in crisis.

PVEN will be able to utilize those funds to provide gifts for a Christmas they'll never forget in 2023.

Thank you again for all you have done this holiday season to help those in need. Despite the struggles of a difficult year, our community yet again rallied together to bring Christmas to all our neighbors, embodying the very essence of the holiday itself.

We wish all of all our readers and their loved ones a Happy New Year.

On behalf of the Pocono Record and Tri-County Independent we would like to thank these charitable donors.
