Harbor Freight Tools to open new Waynesboro store Christmas Eve

Harbor Freight Tools will officially open its new store in Waynesboro, Pa., at 8 a.m. Dec. 24, according to a news release from the company.

The Waynesboro store at 11105 Buchanan Trail East will be open seven days a week from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. on Sunday.

The new store is the 58th Harbor Freight Tools store in Pennsylvania. The company, which hires locally, has brought between 25-30 new jobs to the surrounding community, according to the release. The company also has a store near Chambersburg on Lincoln Way East and in Hagerstown on Wesel Boulevard.

“Our team is ready to serve and deliver value to customers in Waynesboro and all of Franklin County,” Store Manager John Bradford said in the release. “At Harbor Freight, we recognize that now, more than ever, our customers depend on us for the tools they need to get the job done at an affordable price.”

F&M Trust announces promotions

F&M Trust, which is headquartered in Chambersburg, Pa., and has offices in Franklin and Fulton counties in Pennsylvania and Washington County in Maryland, recently announced the following promotions.

  • Investment & Trust Services Relationship Manager Adam Hollinger has been promoted to Assistant Vice President.

  • Investment & Trust Services Portfolio Manager Tony Klatko has been promoted to Assistant Vice President.

  • Investment & Trust Services Relationship Manager Alyssa Proctor has been promoted to Vice President.

  • Megan Brindle has been promoted to Community Office Manager for the West Side Community Office.

  • Tory Lovett has been promoted to Financial Services Representative III for the Lincoln Way East Community Office.

  • Brooke May has been promoted to Lead Financial Services Representative for the Norland Avenue Community Office.

  • Whitney McGraw has been promoted to Lead Financial Services Representative for the McConnellsburg and Hustontown Community Offices.

  • Liz Shoop has been promoted to Financial Services Representative III for the Chambers Pointe and Brookview Community Offices.

First United Bank & Trust opens new office in Smithsburg

First United Bank & Trust recently opened a new office in Smithsburg, moving down the road from its old location, according to a news release from the bank.

The relocated office, which opened Thursday, is at 22940 Jefferson Blvd. First United has had an office in Smithsburg for 27 years, according to the release.

“We consider ourselves lucky to be able to relocate our office and make First United more accessible to the Smithsburg area,” bank CEO, Chairman of the Board and President Carissa L. Rodeheaver said in the release. "We recognize that everyone is on the cutting edge of technology and prefer the convenience of online and mobile banking. At the same time, we understand that there are still quite a few customers who want to meet with their bankers in person.”

The recently renovated office will still emphasize the local area and offer fast transactions for both personal and corporate customers, as well as the most recent banking technology, according to the release. It features an upgraded ATM that can accept envelope-free deposits, as well as a Discovery Center and refreshment bar.

The Discovery Center will provide customers with the opportunity to check out the newest touchscreen and tablet technologies on their own or with the help of a banking specialist, according to the release. Customers will have the option of taking a refreshment from the beverage bar while talking to one of our relationship associates.

“Our new office incorporates self-service options as well as personal one-on-one banking options," Vice President and Director of Retail – Eastern Region Jaime Shelton said in the release. "The stylish design also has the same cozy, contemporary elements that our customers and associates currently enjoy.”

Ryan Flurie graduates from Leadership Maryland

Ryan Flurie, managing director of investments at Abeles Flurie Wealth Management Group of Wells Fargo Advisors in Hagerstown, has graduated from Leadership Maryland, according to a news release from the professional development program.

Leadership Maryland is dedicated to building a better Maryland by harnessing the strength of its local business and community leaders. Flurie, a resident of Frederick, Md., and the Class of 2022 were honored at the 29th annual graduation ceremony Dec. 6 at the Hilton Baltimore BWI Airport. As a graduate, Flurie is now a member of Leadership Maryland’s alumni network, consisting of more than 1,300 leaders from all industries and regions of the state.

Flurie was one of 49 applicants chosen by committee to complete Leadership Maryland’s eight-month hands-on learning program. The class participated in an orientation and closing retreat that bookended five, two-day sessions focused on Maryland’s five main geographic regions and the most vital issues impacting economic development, education, health and human services, criminal justice, the environment, and multi-culturalism/diversity across the state. More than 100 experts representing Maryland’s business, government, education, and nonprofit communities served as panelists and guest speakers.
