Comings and goings: Lubbock's openings, closings, confirmed rumors from March 2023

The third month of 2023 brought in several new businesses, saw two close, and one business announcement. Unlike prior months, there were fewer openings and closings in March. Here's a look at what opened, closed, and confirmed upcoming spots in the Hub City.

Here's which businesses opened in Lubbock in March 2023:

Scooters Coffee

What: Scooters Coffee had their grand opening in late March. The coffee shop offers a selection of hot and iced drinks, teas, smoothies and food items.

When: March 24.

Where: 8101 Indiana Ave.

Skippy B's New and Used Storehouse

What: This vintage store will offer "an eclectic selection of new and used home goods," according to the store's social media.

When: Late March.

Where: 2614 130th St., Suite 86.

Snooze, an A.M. Eatery

What: Just in time to make the March roundup, Snooze, an A.M. Eatery, opened their doors in Lubbock. The location adds a new option to brunch and breakfast lovers seven days a week. The restaurant offers plant-based and gluten-free meals among their expansive menu to get the day started. The company is most known for their Pineapple Upside Down Pancakes and Habanero Pork Belly Benny.

When: March 29.

Uptown Cheapskate

What: This resale store, which will buy and sell clothes, accessories and shoes, started allowing people to sell items to the store on March 16. People who sell their items will be paid in cash, and any items the store cannot take can be donated to Lubbock Impact. In several weeks, once Uptown Cheapskate has enough inventory, customers can start shopping.

When: March 16.

Where: 5027 Milwaukee Ave.

Here's which businesses closed in March 2023:

1000 Degrees Pizza

What: On March 19, the owners of 1000 Degrees Pizza on Indiana Avenue announced that the restaurant would close permanently. The business stated they would be open while supplies last, then close by the end of March. This news broke about a month after the 1000 Degrees Pizza on 19th shut their doors.

When: Late March.

Where: 11804 Indiana Ave., Suite 300.

Java Jet

What: Java Jet opened a drive-thru location in late January. About two months later, the business stated it would close the building at the end of March. The mobile business will continue.

When: March 31.

Where: Corner of Indiana and 66th Street.

Confirmed: Shotgun Sue's Saloon, 1718 Buddy Holly Ave., Suite B., hopes to bring a sense of community, Old West flair, and a "journey through cocktails" to the Depot District in early April.
