Comings & Goings: Meritus Health to open second pharmacy; Patriot Federal hires SVP

Editor's note: This story was updated at 2:15 p.m. on Jan. 24, 2024, to remove the date for a ribbon cutting for Meritus Health's planned pharmacy because the event has been postponed. A new date has not been announced for the ribbon cutting.

Meritus Health is planning to open a second retail pharmacy.

The opening date for the pharmacy, to be in the Robinwood Professional Center, has not yet been announced. A previously scheduled ribbon cutting for the pharmacy, in early February, has been postponed and a new date has not been announced.

More budgeted for schools: Moore's Maryland budget boosts child care, education, without raising taxes. What to know.

"This expansion demonstrates Meritus' commitment to prioritizing patient well-being and coordinated care," particularly for patients using outpatient services, a Meritus Health release states.

“The convenience of our location is important because we’re not just offering medications," Chief Strategy Officer Dave Lehr said in the release. "We have also trained our staff on connecting people to financial resources if they cannot afford their medications. We want to ensure that everyone gets the treatments they need.”

Meritus Health is holding a ribbon cutting on Feb. 1, 2024, for its second pharmacy. An opening date for the pharmacy in the Robinwood Professional Center had not been announced yet.

Meritus Health opened its first retail pharmacy during the spring of 2022 near Meritus Medical Center's main lobby. That site is convenient for patients picking up medicine as they are discharged from the hospital.

A pharmacy in the Robinwood Professional Center, near its outpatient facilities, reduces the risk of treatment lapses or reinfections, the release states. It also helps patients ensure they can get concerns about their medications addressed promptly.
