Comings & goings: New Oola Bowls opening in York

A new Oola Bowls location is opening this weekend in York County. This is the franchise’s 10th location in Central Pennsylvania.

The new Oola Bowls, owned and operated by Josh and Nicki Simmons, is in a 1,900-square-foot space at 970 Loucks Road, next to Chick-fil-A. It will offer both indoor and outdoor seating. This location has created 15 new jobs and will add 10 additional jobs during the warmer months.

Oola Bowls will open on Saturday, Oct. 28. Their temporary hours are 10 a.m.- 6 p.m. Monday-Saturday, and 10 a.m.- 4 p.m. Sunday.

The regular hours of operation will start on Sunday, Nov. 19. Those will be 7 a.m.- 7 p.m., Mon.- Sat., and 8 a.m.- 4 p.m. Sunday.

Integrity First Home Buyers: 2525 Eastern Boulevard, York

ROCK Commercial Real Estate has announced that Integrity First Home Buyers has purchased a 14,400-square-foot office building for $1.5 million. This two-story building has been occupied by a real estate company since its construction in 1977. It will be the second location for Integrity First, a cash-for-homes company.

YU-5 560 Maryland Realty LLC: 560 Maryland Ave., York

ROCK Commercial Real Estate announced that Andato, LLC sold its 46,797-square-foot, heavy manufacturing building for $1.1 million. The property is fully occupied, and tenants include Impact Disaster Services, LLC, Pennwood Products and Buchmyer Construction, LLC.

Since 2018, ROCK Commercial Real Estate has sold this property four times and procured multiple leases. The value of the property has increased from $400,000 in 2018 to $1.1 million in 2023.

Westfalia Technologies, Inc., a leading provider of innovative automated warehousing and parking solutions, recently announced Erlan Rice as the new VP of control systems and support.

In this role, Rice will collaborate with these different teams to increase quality deliveries and enhanced support services to Westfalia’s expanding portfolio of Fortune 500 clients.

York Day Early Learning: 450 E. Philadelphia St., York

York Day Early Learning has announced the appointment of Sara Bradley as its new executive director.

Bradley has nearly two decades of experience working in nonprofit early childhood education, with previous experience at YMCA of the Roses, United Way of York County Partnerships for Children and Cornerstone Youth Home.

Former Executive Director Brian Grimm stepped down from York Day to assume a new position as president of United Way of York County. Brian had served as executive director for York Day Early Learning since 2017.

Leadership York has elected Lee King to its board of directors.

A 2022 graduate of Mentorship York, King is the brand btrategy and customer experience director at Bus Climate Control. He is also a partner at Studio 117 recording studio, owns Resin8, a small design firm specializing in low-code software development and has recently ventured into downtown York real estate, as well.

In addition to the Leadership York board, King actively serves on the Cultural Alliance board, the Tech Rev York board and both the York Tech and HACC Occupational Advisory Committees.

Grants

The York County Tourism Grant Committee approved $126,832 in total funding for eight new projects or events submitted earlier this year during the second and final round of the 2023 York County Tourism Grant Program.

  • Racing Xtravaganza ($20,000) – Funds to market the 2024 motorsports expo, this funding will also support the American Cornhole League event, and the addition of the family-friendly Superhero experiences.

  • Mason Dixon Fair ($20,000) – For purchase and installation of an updated LED sign at the Mason Dixon Fairgrounds entrance.

  • White Rose Figure Skating Club ($20,000) – A two-year grant to grow and maintain the Keystone State Games figure skating competition in York.

  • Hanover Area YMCA ($5,000) – Funding to develop event collateral and advertise the event to increase out-of-area participation for Snack Town Run Fest.

  • Parliament Arts Organization ($20,000) – Designated funding to market and promote the new Royal Square Mural Park to York County visitors and continue to promote York County as an arts and culture destination.

  • Hanover Area Historical Society ($1,832) – Marketing funds awarded for the printing and distribution of collateral to support the historical society.
