A new Planet Fitness has opened in Manchester.

The new gym, located at 245 Glen Drive, Manchester, opened Tuesday, Oct. 10 at noon. It includes a wide array of cardio, strength training and recovery equipment for patrons of all fitness levels.

Runkle’s Notary Tag and Title: 14645 Mt. Airy Road, Suite 203, Shrewsbury.

Runkle’s Notary Tag and Title is opening a new office in Shrewsbury. The opening date is scheduled for Oct. 24.

Runkle’s has been in business since 1949. Other stores are located in Red Lion, York and Hanover.

"We have expanded to serve the residents in Shrewsbury and the surrounding areas with easily accessible notary, tag and title services," president of Runkle's Chase Austin said. "Our new location offers easy accessibility on and off Exit 4 on I-83, and we can serve both Pennsylvania and Maryland residents as we are authorized with both PennDOT and the MVA."

Imagine X Functional Neurology: 263 E. Market St., York.

Image X Functional Neurology will hold a ribbon cutting on Monday, Oct. 16.

Dr. Adam Harcourt was born and raised in York and moved his practice to the area from Santa Barbara and Beverly Hills, Calif. He wanted to be closer to family, so he brought his business back to York.

Dr. Harcourt specializes in Migraine and Post-Concussion Syndrome, rehabbing the brain to reduce or reverse lingering symptoms.

Steph Holmes Artist Studio: 336 W. Market St., York

Steph Holmes Artist Studio has opened in York. Nature-lovers will find a whole series of local bird prints, whimsical original paintings, greeting cards and postcards.

"I create art that celebrates the connection we can have with nature and I do that with color and animals. This is also a place to tap into the creative community," Holmes said in a news release.

Patrons can join a monthly Arts & Crafts Night event, sign up for Secondhand Art Supply Swap, or take an art class.

"Limiting the environmental impact of my artwork is also a high priority in my studio. The prints and packaging are made from recycled and biodegradable materials, original works of art are oftentimes created using second hand materials, and more," Holmes said.

Closing

Insurance company Assurant will close its York branch at the beginning of 2024.

The company submitted a WARN notice last week for the closure of its York offices, located at 625 Willow Springs Lane, York, PA 17406 and 58 Grumbacher Road, Suite C.

Between the two locations, 442 employees will be laid off.

The dates of the closure are from Jan. 2, 2024- March 31, 2024, according to the notice.

Wagman Construction recently completed renovations for the Appell Center for the Performing Arts, located in downtown York. The updated space allows the Appell Center to preserve its historic theaters and continue to serve the community as a premier performing arts venue, according to a news release.

The $2.7 million project, designed by Warehaus, included the replacement of the HVAC system throughout the facility, including roof-top units, interior air management devices and system controls. Additional renovations were made to the Strand Theatre concessions areas, which included all-new service equipment and beer taps, as well as improved design and accessibility. The aging exterior doors were also replaced, and accessibility hardware was installed.

Voith Hydro

Voith Hydro has made several recent investments in its flagship North American manufacturing facility in York, according to a news release. The upgrades will result in increased production capacity, improved product quality, increased energy efficiency, greater tool life, reduced downtime, reduced waste and enhanced worker safety, per the release.

These investments qualify as Advanced Energy Property under section 48C of the Internal Revenue Code, making them eligible for a potential tax credit to offset a portion of the costs of these investments in U.S. renewable energy equipment manufacturing. Voith Hydro plans to place the new equipment into service by September 2024.
