Comings & Goings: Popular York County restaurant for sale, former Staples gets new tenant

The Eagle’s Nest Restaurant and Event Venue is for sale.

TRUE Commercial Real Estate sent the announcement in a news release. The Eagle’s Nest, located off Interstate 83 Exit 18 at 2519 Mt. Rose Ave., York, is a longstanding York County staple featuring award-winning cuisine, cocktails, breathtaking views, live music, catering/event booking and more.

Owner Joe Mueller has successfully grown the business over for over five years and is now focused on finding a buyer who shares his passion for Eagle’s Nest.

"It is of the utmost importance that I make it clear to all our valued customers and staff that business shall continue as usual. The staff will continue to deliver the exceptional food and service our customers have always enjoyed; all private parties and events shall continue as planned, and we intend to ensure to the best of our ability that any potential future transition of ownership has virtually zero impact on our customers and staff," Mueller said in the release.

The sale includes the real estate, “R” liquor license and business assets, including furniture, fixtures, equipment, trade name, intellectual property, recipes and website/phone number.

Opening

Dallastown

DC Sports Complex: 401 E. Locust St., Dallastown

DC Sports Complex has opened in Dallastown, offering a place for people to experience baseball, golf and other sports through various amenities. There is also an arcade.

The complex offers batting cages for guests, kids batting cages, Hit Trax simulator batting cages, pitching cages and kids pitching cages ranging between $25 to $30 dollars for 30 minutes.

Guests can purchase baseball and softball gear, in addition to experiencing sports history by viewing collectibles and sports memorabilia.

A golf simulator will be open by the end of October, providing a realistic golfing experience with high-definition graphics and advanced technology.

Springettsbury

Bob's Discount Furniture: 2915 Concord Road, Springettsbury

The former Staples in Springettsbury Township's York Towne Center will now be a Bob's Discount Furniture. The new store is expected to open by the end of the month.

York Springs

U-Haul: 202 Main St., York Springs

U-Haul Co. of Pennsylvania has announced that Amexi Tobacco and More signed on as a U-Haul neighborhood dealer. This location will offer services such U-Haul trucks, towing equipment, support rental items and in-store pickup for boxes.

Moving

York

Splash Supply Company is moving.

The pond-supply and water features company will be located at 1941 Powder Mill Road, York, where it will have triple the space and many more new water features and additions. There will be an expanded fish room, aquatic greenhouse, 100,000-gallon turtle pond and wildlife habitat and a swim pond.

The current location at 1298 Toronita St. will remain open through the end of 2023. The company must move because of I-83 construction plans.

Closing

Charlie's Produce & Crabs, located at 4866 West Market Street/Route 30, York, will close at the end of November after 15 years in business.

Events

On Oct. 14, the night sky over Central PA will light up when thousands of sky lanterns are released as part of the Night Lights Sky Lantern Festival at Hollywood Casino in Grantville. The event will include food trucks, vendors, live music, and entertainment before the lantern release.

Tickets will be available at the door for $74 each, or they can be bought online at a discounted price. Those 7 years and older must have a ticket. Each ticket includes a lantern kit, prayer flag and general admission. Parking fee is included at checkout. Gates open at 2 p.m. and the event will end around 10 p.m.

Personnel

The Governor’s Advisory Commission on LGBTQ Affairs announced 29 new members, including Rich Askey of York County, who will serve as a commissioner.

The commission’s purpose is to gather information regarding LGBTQ Pennsylvanians’ experiences and needs; review, evaluate and assess programs affecting them; provide the governor with information and recommendations regarding how best to meet their needs; and provide information about programs and services that may be relevant to their needs. The commission was established by Gov. Josh Shapiro through an executive order.
