Commerce area man killed in car crash in Madison County, had a 'medical emergency'
A man who was killed Saturday in a one-vehicle wreck in Madison County apparently had a medical emergency prior to the crash, Madison County Coroner Julie Harrison said Wednesday.
The wreck that occurred at about 4 p.m. along Hudson River Church Road north of Ila claimed the life of David O’Neal Ritter, 66, who had a Commerce route address.
The Georgia State Patrol reported that Ritter was traveling north when his Ford Crown Victoria traveled off the road and crashed through a fence before striking a tree.
The wreck occurred near the Drake Woods Road intersection.
Ritter died at the scene, a patrol spokesman said.
