The Commercial Appeal, Action News 5 and The League of Women Voters of Memphis-Shelby County are holding a Memphis mayoral forum Thursday evening.

Shelby County Sheriff Floyd Bonner, State Rep. Karen Camper, businessman J.W. Gibson, Memphis-Shelby County Schools Board Member Michelle McKissack, former NAACP Memphis branch President Van Turner and Downtown Memphis Commission President Paul Young have committed to participating in the event.

The forum will start at 7 p.m. at the University of Memphis’ Michael D. Rose Theatre, 470 University. However, if you prefer to watch from the comfort of your own home, the 75-minute forum will be televised live on Action News 5 and live-streamed on commercialappeal.com and actionnews5.com.

The forum, which comes the day before the start of early voting in the Memphis Municipal Election, will include such topics as crime and public safety, education and economic development. The election is Oct. 5.
