‘Commitment to diversity’: Davis volunteers create Black Lives Matter chalk art

Chalk art volunteers in Davis created a block-long message in support of the Black Lives Matter movement. The volunteers spent Sunday morning stenciling the words "Black Lives Matter" in multi-color spray chalk on Second Street between E and F Streets. "I'm hoping that it demonstrates our community's commitment to diversity," said Davis mayor and executive director of the Davis Phoenix Coalition, Gloria Partida. Her nonprofit organization brought together the volunteers -- all of whom felt connected to the message they're creating and determined to see change in their community.
