Commonwealth Court candidate visits Sunbury

Sep. 25—SUNBURY — Republican Commonwealth Court judge candidate Megan Martin enjoyed a Squeeze In hot dog and met with residents during a campaign stop in Sunbury on Monday.

Martin, of Cumberland County, who served as the first woman secretary-parliamentarian of the Pennsylvania Senate, won the Republican nomination in May defeating attorney Joshua Prince.

Martin will face Democratic challenger Matt Wolf, a municipal court judge in Philadelphia.

"I am excited to be visiting Northumberland County and every county across the state," Martin said.

Martin said she decided to seek her first public office because she wants to represent the people of the state and bring fairness to the court.

"I want to serve the people of the state and protect our constitutional freedoms," Martin said.

Martin arrived in Sunbury on Monday and held her meet and greet at the Squeeze In.

"We have been bringing people together since 1945," Squeeze In owner Chris Snyder said. "We are happy to see everyone stop by and see us."

Martin was joined by state Sen. Lynda Culver, and other county leaders.

"I have visited every county in the state once and I am now doing it again before the November election," Martin said. "I am a bit of a homebody but I will say that going out on these tours and meeting with people and listening to their concerns has been a wonderful experience."

Northumberland County Commissioner Sam Schiccatano said he was happy to see state candidates stopping in the county.

"It's nice to see this and it gives our residents a chance to come out and meet the candidate," he said.
