Jun. 3—Cappella Cantorum hosts 'Sing with Simon'

Want to give your choral singing skills a boost this summer? Then sign up for Cappella Cantorum's "Sing with Simon," a vocal workshop being held on Saturday, June 17, 9 .a.m to 4 p.m. at First Church of Christ in Old Saybrook.

This professionally led, one-day workshop is designed and conducted by Simon Holt, music director of Cappella Cantorum and the First Congregational Church of Old Lyme, as well as the founder and artistic director of Salt Marsh Opera.

All singers ages 13 and up are welcome; no auditions or choir membership required. The cost for the workshop is $50, which includes all materials and lunch. Enrollment fair for HUSKY Health

Access Health CT has announced it will host a free, in-person enrollment fair at the Otis Library in Norwich from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, June 15.

The fair will help HUSKY Health enrollees who have been affected by recent legislation. HUSKY Health is Connecticut's Medicaid program.

LEGO Club at the Bill Library

The Bill Memorial Library in the City of Groton invites children in grades 1 through 5 to its LEGO Club on Thursday, June 15, 4-5 p.m. Please note that LEGO creations stay at the library so there will be plenty of bricks for the next LEGO Time event. Lake association holds golf tournament

Amos Lake Association will be hosting its second annual golf tournament starting at 9 a.m. July 27 at the award winning Rees Jones-designed Lake of Isles golf course, 1 Clubhouse Drive, North Stonington. Register your foursome at amoslake.com. For questions, email patennis64@gmail.com.

An awards luncheon will follow play. Cost is $175 per player, $700 per team.

UCFS Healthcare golf tourney

UCFS Healthcare is hosting the 2023 Annual UCFS Golf Tournament on Monday, June 26, at Stonington Country Club. Registration starts at 11:30 a.m. with a shotgun start at 1 p.m. All proceeds helps to further UCFS' mission of improving the health and well-being of the community.

Open house at Portersville Academy

As part of Connecticut Open House Day, the Mystic River Historical Society will hold an open house at the Portersville Academy from 1 to 4 p.m. on June 10. Admission is free.

The Portersville Academy is located at 76 High St. in Mystic. There will be a display of vintage photographs from three prominent Mystic photographers: Everett A. Scholfield, George Tingley and Josephine Dickinson. There will also be displays of items from past schoolhouse days, antique tools, and various vintage household items, as well as photograph displays of the Academy and the Liberty Pole.

The greatest sitcoms of all time

Award winning author and pop culture historian Marty Gitlin hosts a fun and enlightening East Lyme Public Library program at 7 p.m. Tuesday, June 6, based on his book, "The Greatest Sitcoms of All Time," which looks at shows including "I Love Lucy," "The Honeymooners," "Seinfeld," "The Golden Girls," and "The Big Bang Theory." He will show funny snippets of these shows and others, challenge patrons with sitcom trivia, discuss the criteria he used to rank the shows, and talk about how they evolved over the decades. Open House Day on June 10

More than 200 tourism attractions across the state will offer free or reduced admission or special offers to Connecticut residents on Saturday, June 10, in honor of the 19th annual Connecticut Open House Day.

This special event is organized by the Connecticut Office of Tourism and designed to encourage state residents to visit or revisit some of the amazing attractions that can be found in their home state.
