CAD / CAM Basics for the CNC Router Berea Makerspace — 7 — 9 p.m. Price of Registration — $15 Learn how to design and program our CNC router. Attendees will get an introduction into vCarve Pro, a desktop software for both CAD (computer aided design) and CAM (computer aided machining) work. Woodworking Hand Tool Basics with Ben Mason Berea Makerspace — 8am — 12pm Learn about using hand tools at the makerspace with accomplished woodworker, violin-maker, and makerspace member Ben Mason. Ben will go over the purpose of each tool, how to prepare for use at the start of your woodworking session, and the techniques required to use chisels, planes, and more tools in a safe and productive manner. This orientation is required to use the hand tools in our Makerspace traditional tool chest. This is a pay what you can event, with limited seats — there WILL be waitlists. We encourage you to give what you are able to. Our grant with Berea College allows us to do what we can to make these events as accessible as possible.Our event system does not allow for sliding scale pricing — please pay through our Paypal account (credit cards accepted) or through cash at the door. Diabetes Screening Event Richmond Branch of the Madison County Library — 1 — 3 p.m. The University of Kentucky is teaming up with local organizations to enroll participants in a diabetic research study. Each participant will receive six individual health coaching sessions to help improve diabetes self-management. In addition, some of the participants will be selected to attend the Diabetes Education Empowerment Program (DEEP) courses.
