Superior: Superior Public Library hosts Crafty Kids from 10 a.m. to noon. Children can drop in anytime during the two-hour period to make spooky crafts. All supplies are provided; no registration required.

Gordon: Join North Woods and Waters of the St. Croix Heritage Area for an afternoon of celebrating the northern forests of Wisconsin from 1-4 p.m. at the Douglas County Wildlife Area and Bird Sanctuary, 13028 S. Bird Road. Forester Logan Jones will give a presentation on "Forestry: Past, Present, Future." Participants can learn about the heritage area and get a sampling of area organizations. Following the program, there will be live music and poetry, a campfire with s'mores, a group hike and a display of regional photos.

Superior: Reclaim Recovery, a recovery-pathway neutral support group, meets from 5:30-7 p.m. at 2911 Tower Ave., Suite 9 the first and third Saturday of each month. Join us twice monthly for a fun-filled, laid-back, non-faith-based meeting.

Superior: A free e-waste collection will take place from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Head of the Lakes Fairgrounds, 4700 Tower Ave. Items accepted include computers, televisions, their peripheral accessories and mobile devices. Participants can show up to the event with their electronics and the event team on site will unload them.

Gordon: The Gordon Fire Tower will host an open climbing day from 1-4 p.m. at the fire tower, 9469 E. Bass Lake Road. Members of the public are invited to climb 100 feet up to the cab of the historic tower and explore the grounds of the site, which is operated by the nonprofit Friends of the Bird Sanctuary. Solon Springs: A community campfire will be held from 4:30-6:30 p.m. at the pavilion behind Our Saviors Lutheran Church. Free brats, hot dogs and s'mores. All are welcome.

Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior will hold a celebration for Indigenous Peoples Day beginning at 5 p.m. at the Maawanji'idiwin — "The Place Where We Come Together" Medicine Wheel and Community Gathering Area located in the courtyard near the Yellowjacket Union, 1605 Catlin Ave. The family-friendly event is free and open to the community. Refreshments will be provided. Following the ceremony, UW-Superior students will showcase traditional dance. Superior: Duluth Public Library hosts the Twin Ports Perception project at 6 p.m. The project invites six award-winning authors who call the Twin Ports home to participate in a panel discussion about how they portray Duluth and Superior in their work. Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior will host many of the best high school jazz musicians from throughout the Northland for the Tri-State Jazz Festival. Beginning in the morning, students will rehearse with Greg Kehl Moore, professor of music and jazz program director, and guest clinician Jeff Rinear. A public concert featuring the UW-Superior Jazz Band and Tri-State Jazz Festival students will take place at 7 p.m. in Thorpe Langley Auditorium in the Old Main building on the UWS campus. Admission is $5 and free for students.

Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior kicks off its Yellowjacket Family Fun Days in the Lydia Thering Fieldhouse at the Marcovich Wellness Center. The free event will run from 9 a.m. to noon, and will feature members of the UWS women's hockey and women's basketball teams. Children will be able to play floor hockey, basketball, soccer, tennis, volleyball and compete in races. Batting cages will be available, as well as yard games and crafts. Attendees will receive an autograph card that will also include a coupon for a free scoop of custard from Culver's in Superior, as well as a free youth ticket to a future Yellowjacket home game.

Superior: The Center Against Sexual and Domestic Abuse presents a "Paws for a Cause" pet walk to highlight October as Domestic Violence Awareness Month.
