Superior: City of Superior hosts the Dream Up! Child Care Workshop and Resource Fair from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Historic Old Post Office, 1401 Tower Ave, Superior. The event is geared toward current and prospective child care providers. The event will include "loose parts" training, information on licensing, grant opportunities, information from resource partners, and a free program improvement package for those who register in advance ($500 value). Superior: Superior Public Library hosts its Lego Club for kids from 4-6 p.m.

Superior: Superior Public Library hosts storytime at 10:30 a.m. Children and their caregivers can listen to stories, do crafts, sing songs and more at the library. No registration is required.

Superior: Superior Public Library hosts the first of two Sip and Swipe Cafe sessions for participants with Apple devices. The second session will be held Oct. 5. The sessions will run from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Coaches will help attendees learn how to access information, connect with family and friends, and gain confidence with their smartphone or tablet. During the session, coffee or tea will be available. Each class requires participation in two sessions, and class sizes are limited. Register in advance by calling 715-394-8860, or stop by the library and sign up at the Circulation Desk. Attendees will need to bring their own device.

Superior: The University of Wisconsin-Superior will host the Japanese drum group Taiko Arts Midwest for a free workshop and performance for the campus and community. The workshop will run from 4-5 p.m. and will be followed by a performance at 6 p.m. Both events will take place in Thorpe Langley Auditorium, located in the Old Main building, 1710 Weeks Ave.

Superior: The Superior High School volleyball team hosts the Dig Pink Game at 6 p.m. at SHS, with 100% off the proceeds from ticket sales, silent auction and raffles going to the St. Luke's Foundation. The foundation supports breast cancer research and education and helps families currently battling breast cancer in northern Minnesota and Wisconsin. The annual event is run by SHS seniors.

Superior: The Superior-Douglas County Resource open house runs from 9-11 a.m. and from 5-7 p.m. in the Superior Entrepreneurship Center ballroom, 1401 Tower Ave. The sessions are open to all business owners and will help business leaders connect to resources such as planning, education, funding, networking and more.

Superior: Marie Mattson, a certified professional genealogist, will offer a free class at Superior Public Library at 10:30 a.m. This is the first of four sessions, which will cover FamilySearch, the U.S. Census, DNA and more. Each session will run for approximately 90 minutes. No registration is required.

Gordon: The Gordon Fire Tower will host an open climbing day from 1-4 p.m. at the fire tower, 9469 E. Bass Lake Road. Members of the public are invited to climb 100 feet up to the cab of the historic tower and explore the grounds of the site, which is operated by the nonprofit Friends of the Bird Sanctuary.
