Community Calendar: Workshop for new moms and more

Kettle River Conference of Women of the ELCA Fall Gathering, Bethany Lutheran Church, Cromwell. Registration will begin at 8:30 a.m. Myrna Kempi Wells Ulland will be the guest speaker. Lunch will be served for a $10 donation.

Celebration of a Poet, Carlton County Historical Society, 406 Cloquet Ave., Cloquet. Sons of Norway Heimsyn Lodge and the Carlton County Historical Society host a celebration of Norwegian-American poet Julius Berg Baumann (1869-1923) with poetry scholar Lawrence Moe. Afterward, attendees are invited to gather at the Baumann Monument, Hillcrest Cemetery.

Beyond the Bump: Growing Together, 5-6 p.m., Community Memorial Hospital. This is the first of an eight-week class that will empower and educate moms through the beginning stages of motherhood. Topics covered will include: introducing solids, what to expect during teething, returning to exercise and the importance of pelvic health, and managing expectations and mental health.
