Community celebrates Independence Day
MACOMB — The "Q" lot at Western Illinois University was filled with residents celebrating Independence Day Monday.
The show started about 20 minutes after 9 p.m., the scheduled time. Before the show, some attendees celebrated early with their own light displays of sparklers and glow sticks.
The last time a July 4th celebration was held at WIU was 2019. The event, like others the university normally holds annually, was cancelled due to the pandemic's public health concerns.
