Community service for Charles Strobel scheduled for Friday
A community celebration for Nashville humanitarian Charles Strobel is scheduled for Friday at First Horizon Park at 10 a.m.
Strobel, a Catholic priest known for founding Room In The Inn, a nonprofit serving people experiencing homelessness, died on Sunday. He was 80.
Since his death, there's been an outpouring of community support and remembrance. Current and former mayors, state lawmakers, the Nashville Fire Department and nonprofit leaders, among others, shared how Strobel's service to and advocacy for disenfranchised groups left an indelible impact.
Strobel was also a huge baseball fan, making the Nashville Sounds stadium the perfect venue for his celebration of life. The community is welcome to attend Friday's service. First Horizon Park is located at 19 Junior Gilliam Way in Nashville.
