STURGIS — An interdenominational community choir has been busy preparing for an upcoming performance in Sturgis.

The group will present their Christmas celebration at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Dec. 9, at The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints, 1111 N. Galyn St., Sturgis. Admission is free to the event, which also includes an audience sing-along.

The choir has been rehearsing since the first part of October, under the direction of Charles Collins. Instrumentalists also have been rehearsing with the group for the past month.

Rehearsals underway for choir's community Christmas program

Music packets will be provided for the audience sing-along portion of the event. Songs with audience participation include:

  • “O Come All Ye Faithful”

  • “Joy to the World”

  • “What Child Is This?”

  • “Come Thou Long Expected Jesus”

  • “O Little Town of Bethlehem”

  • “Gently Mary Laid Her Child”

  • “Silent Night”

  • “Go Tell It on the Mountain”
