Community resource event to overcome the stigma associated with Sudden Infant Death Syndrome

On Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Fatherhood P.R.I.D.E., an initiative of Northeast Florida Healthy Start Coalition, will be hosting a community resource event at 5300 North Pearl St. 32208.

Their goal for this event is to overcome the stigma associated with Sudden Infant Death Syndrome, Shaken Baby Syndrome, and Accidental Infant Deaths to reduce the Infant Mortality Rate in Jacksonville.

In honor of September being Infant Mortality Awareness Month, Fatherhood P.R.I.D.E. will be discussing Jacksonville’s high infant death rate.

With the slogan, “Make a Noise and Make a Difference,” and the name #Day366, the organization hopes to highlight the day after a child’s first birthday along with all the possibilities one more day can hold.

There will be health and wellness organizations there to make their presence in the community known, games and activities for the kids, and parenting workshops for adults.
