Community gathers for Memorial Day ceremony in Centerville
Multiple Memorial Day ceremonies were held throughout the Miami Valley to remember those who died fighting for our country.
One ceremony was held at Stubbs Park in Centerville, where every chair was filled as people honored those who paid the ultimate sacrifice.
People flooded the plaza to be a part of the ceremony, including service members and veterans like Jeff Tingle. He has a family history of enlistings.

“My dad, of course, was a WWII veteran,” Tingle said. “Hopefully we’ve cataloged and gotten most of their stories and we can share them with future generations that never knew him.”
Future generations like all of the children who were at the ceremony and can continue to learn about our fallen heroes.

“I hope to be able to share my stories and hope more of my veteran friends will as well so we can always get our youngsters to appreciate our nation’s history,” Tingle said.
The program included Col. Marqus Randall, VFW Post 9550, Centerville Police Department, Washington Twp. Fire Department, Girl Scouts, Pastor Tony Miltenberger, and Centerville Community Band.
