Akron City Council

  • Ward 4 Councilman Russ Neal will host a meeting at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at St. Sebastian's Zwisler Hall, 476 Mull Ave., Akron. Albert Bragg, executive director of Alpha Phi Alpha Homes, will give an update on the Residence at Good Park housing development. Residents will also receive updates on the city's American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funding initiatives. 330-212-3034.

Public forum: Where do candidates stand on issues

  • Voters will have an opportunity to see and question Summit County general election candidates during a virtual public forum from 6-8 p.m. Thursday. The question-and-answer session will be moderated by Nikki Marchmon-Boykin, from the board of directors of the Akron-area League of Women Voters. Sign up to attend the virtual forum conducted on Zoom by completing the registration on lwvaa.org. An email confirmation will be sent to you. A candidate forum watch party will be held simultaneously from 6-8 p.m. at the Akron-Summit County Public Library, 60 S. High St., Akron, in meeting rooms 1 and 2. Masks are mandated for anyone attending the watch party at the library. Community partners will have tables with voting registration, early voting dates and other voting information.

Kent City Council Democracy Day

  • Kent City Council will hold a public hearing from 6-7 p.m. Wednesday at the Kent Fire Department, 320 S. Depeyster St. The forum will be broadcast live on Kent’s YouTube Channel. People can express their views related to a proposed 28th Amendment to the Constitution, which would remove personhood from corporations and eliminate the notion that money is a form of speech.
