Community members gather for National Day of Prayer

May 11—Was it a sit-in, was it a protest, was it a picnic? No, Thursday, May 4, was National Day of Prayer, and at noon about 40 people gathered on the Lake County Courthouse lawn in Polson for prayers.

Community pastors prayed for the seven centers of influence in America — government, family, military, media arts, business, education and church — asking that people love one another, and requesting wisdom, communication, cooperation and living Jesus' teachings for all.

Pastors from many churches were present, including Pastor Gregg Perkins, Polson Foursquare Church; Pastor Sika Ulutoa, Lighthouse Christian Fellowship; Pastor Jeremy Lee, Lake City Baptist Church; Pastor Kelly Mitchell, Pablo Baptist Church; Pastor Chriss Sopke, Jr., New Life Church, Polson; Pastor Matthew Connally, Church of the Nazarene, and others.

Participants broke into groups with their own church members before Pastor Sika asked attendees to hold hands and say The Lord's Prayer to end the hour-long celebration.
