Community mourns after 3 Texas Panhandle sisters killed in rollover crash

Panhandle communities are mourning after three teen sisters from Sanford died in single-vehicle rollover crash late Wednesday in Hutchinson County.

The Texas Department of Public Safety reported that at 7:15 p.m. Wednesday, a 2008 Jeep Wrangler was traveling north on RM 1319 at an unsafe speed for the approaching curve in the road. The driver, 18-year-old Madison Harris, lost control of the vehicle, causing it to roll multiple times, according to an initial report from the DPS. The Jeep came to a rest on its right side in a field east of RM 1319.

Madison was pronounced dead at the scene along with her 16-year-old sister Kaitlyn and 14-year-old sister Jeslyn. The 14-year-old was not wearing a seatbelt and was ejected from the vehicle, according to the DPS. All three girls were from Sanford.

The girls' grandmother, Geri Tollison, shared social media messages, saying her "three babies went to heaven tonight" following the crash, as well as information about pending funeral services and ways to support the family. An account has been set up Pantex Federal Credit Union. Those wanting to support the family can call or go by any branch and donate to “Friends of the Tollison-Harris Family," the credit union confirmed on Thursday.

Services for the girls are pending for Tuesday, Dec. 13 at Grace Fellowship in Borger.

Sanford-Fritch ISD released a statement on social media in response to the loss.

"SFISD wishes to express condolences to the Harris family, as they have experienced such a tragic loss," the statement reads. " There will be counselors and clergy available on the SFHS and SFJH campuses for any staff and/or students who need to speak to someone today."

The crash remains under investigation.  Information may change, be corrected, or be added based on the investigator's findings.
