Trivia Night in Temperance

TEMPERANCE – Trivia Night takes place at 10 a.m. the last Tuesday of each month at Bedford Senior Community Center, 1653 Samaria Rd.

'Teams compete against each other in a test of knowledge,' the center said. 'It is a lot of fun.'

Prizes are awarded. The public is welcome.

Al-Anon meetings

Below are some of the AA meetings set around the county. Others also are offered.

• Tuesday Night Serenity meets at 7:15 p.m. Tuesdays at St. Anne Catholic Church’s parish hall on N. Dixie Highway. Attendees should use Door 4 in the back of the building. Handicap parking is available. For more information, call Kathy at 734-770-0878.

• An Al-Anon meeting takes place at 6 p.m. Thursdays at Christ Lutheran Church, 225 E. Elm Ave. Attendees should enter through the center door from the parking lot, behind the church.

• A meeting take place at 7 p.m. Thursdays at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 1690 W. Sterns Road, Temperance.

• A meeting is offered at 8 p.m. Thursdays at St. Peter’s Lutheran Church, 343 E. Center St., Petersburg.

NA meetings

Several Narcotic Anonymous meetings are offered in Monroe County. Two can be accessed virtually.

The Monroe County Area Service Committee of NA announces the following meetings. Unless otherwise noted, the groups are open to anyone interested in recovery.

Sundays: Sunday Night Live begins at 7 p.m. in the Hiltz Room at ProMedica Monroe Regional Hospital, 718 N. Macomb Street. It is for addicts only.

Mondays: The Complete Abstinence group meets at noon at Trinity Episcopal Church, 304 S. Monroe St. The Get Off Drugs group meets at 8 p.m. at Monroe Church of the Nazarene, 3401 S. Custer. Tuesdays: Clean & Serene takes place at 7:30 p.m. at St. John’s Lutheran Church, 460 Riley St., Dundee. Wednesdays: Wednesday Nite NA begins at 8 p.m. at St. Anne’s Catholic Church, 2420 N. Dixie Highway. This group is for addicts only. Fridays and Saturdays: We Choose Life meets at 8 p.m. at Trinity Episcopal Church, 304 S. Monroe St.

“NA offers only one promise and this is freedom from active addiction, the solution that evades us for so long,” the organization said.

Sale at Thrift Shop

The Thrift Shop of Monroe is offering a special in January and February.

Shoppers can get $1 off for every $5 spent. This excludes jewelry and reduced items.

The Thrift Shop is located at 126 S. Monroe St.

The store is open from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Saturdays and offers clothing for men, women and children; home items; toys; books; magazines; jewelry; and collectibles.

The Thrift Shop is a nonprofit organization staffed by volunteers. Proceeds support nonprofit organizations and scholarships in Monroe County.

Shooting events

DUNDEE – The Dundee Sportsmans Club, 2300 Plank Road, will hold two events Jan. 28.

Sporting Clays will be available from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. The cost is $20 for 50 clay birds. Food and drinks will be sold.

The indoor cornhole league will begin at 5 p.m. Jan. 28.

Wednesdays: Oaks of Righteousness Village, 924 E. Second St.; St. John Lutheran Church, 460 Riley St., Dundee (dine-in or carryout); First Congregational Church of Christ, 26250 E. Huron River Drive, Flat Rock; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Catholic Church, 8330 Lewis Ave., Temperance.

Thursdays: Crossroads Church, 6960 Sylvania-Petersburg Road, Ottawa Lake.
