Crafting sale, meditations, more taking place at E. Hampton Senior Center

EAST HAMPTON – The East Hampton Senior Center, 105 Main St., is hosting the following programs. All participants are asked to register for a program before entering the Senior Center through myactivecenter.com, 860-267-4426, or seniorcenter@easthamptonct.gov.

Sizzling Summer Senior Crafting Sale will run from July 10 through July 21, 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. All proceeds benefit the Senior Center.

Free Blood Pressure Screening: Monday, July 10, 12:30 to 1:30 p.m. Chatham Health Department will sponsor this monthly clinic. No appointment is necessary.

Mighty Magnificent Men’s Group Now Twice a Month: Mondays, July 10, from 10:30 to 11:30 a.m. This men’s group is a casual opportunity to meet others and discuss what’s on your mind. Stop in and join in the discussion. Please sign up in advance.

Ageless Meditations with Victoria: Mondays, July 10 and 24, from 1 to 2 p.m. Techniques engage in healing, self-compassion, and gratitude in a group setting. Become mindfully ageless and unstoppable older adults in our community. Pre-registration is required.

Sharing Nature with Family and Friends: Meet Master Naturalist Lynn Kochiss by the pavilion at Hurd State Park on Wednesday, July 12, for a relaxed nature walk on the trails from 10:30 a.m. to noon. Invite a grandchild, relative, or friend to join. Pack a lunch and plan to picnic after the walk. Pre-registration is required.

Movie Day: Friday, July 14, at 1 p.m. showing The Queen. In the wake of a national tragedy, the prime minister and royal family find themselves quietly at odds. Come watch and enjoy some goodies. Please register.

Remembering G. Fox & Co.: Thursday, July 20, take a trip to the Connecticut Museum of Culture and History, for a behind the scenes tour of memorabilia from Hartford’s most iconic department store. Cost is $19 per person. Lunch will follow, on you, at First and Last Tavern, in Glastonbury. Limited bus seats are available. Please pre-register. The bus will meet at the Senior Center’s lower lot at 10:15 a.m. Approximate return time will be 2:15 p.m.

State community college campuses offer Saturday hours on July 8

AREA – CT State Community College’s 12 campuses will hold “Enroll in a Day” for new and continuing students on Saturday, July 8, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Attendees can meet with an advisor, finalize their schedules, and register for classes at one of CT State’s 12 locations listed: Bridgeport—CT State Housatonic, 900 Lafayette Boulevard; Danielson—CT State Quinebaug Valley, 742 Upper Maple Street; Enfield—CT State Asnuntuck, 170 Elm Street; Farmington—CT State Tunxis, 271 Scott Swamp Road; Hartford—CT State Capital, 950 Main Street; Manchester—CT State Manchester, Great Path; Middletown—CT State Middlesex, 100 Training Hill Road; New Haven—CT State Gateway, 20 Church Street; Norwalk—CT State Norwalk, 188 Richards; Norwich—CT State Three Rivers, 574 New London Turnpike; Waterbury—CT State Naugatuck Valley, 750 Chase Parkway; Winsted—CT State Northwestern, Park Place.

These Saturday hours offer convenience for those prospective and current students who may wish to meet with student support staff in-person, but who are unable to connect during regular Monday through Friday business hours. Representatives from the admissions, registration, financial aid, cashier and advising offices will be on-hand that day to work with students. Attendees can also learn more about course placement and how best to meet the prerequisites needed to take a class, as well as learn more about paying for college. In some locations, the campus bookstores may be open for students to buy textbooks and other supplies.

Students intending to apply to CT State Community College for the first time should start by applying online. Applications for Fall 2023 semester can be found at www.ctstate.edu/apply. Fall semester credit classes begin August 29.

Free college through PACT: Pledge to Advance Connecticut is still available to graduates of Connecticut’s high school who are first-time college students. Accessing PACT and any financial aid starts with completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at fafsa.gov. PACT is not based on household income; all students who plan on attending full- or part-time should complete the FAFSA so they can access PACT, even if they do not think they will qualify for need-based aid. PACT funding is available on a rolling basis; applicants can see if they may qualify at www.ctstate.edu/pact.

Hebron presents summer concert series

HEBRON – The Town Center Project, Inc presents the Hebron Concert Series 2023. Second Saturday Breakfast taking place in Columbia

COLUMBIA – Second Saturday Breakfast at the Columbia Congregational Church, 325 CT-87, will take place from 7:30 to 10 a.m. Saturday, July 8.

The all-you-can-eat breakfast buffet will feature omelets (design your own),scrambled eggs, belgian waffles, home baked pastries and more. Cost is $12 per person or $30 for a family of four (two adults and two children, under 12). For information, contact Michele at 860-228-9306.
