Connections opening in Windsor Art Center

WINDSOR – Windsor Art Center announces Connections, an exhibit featuring paintings by two Connecticut artists, Jeanne Manzelli and Gary Jacobs. The show runs through Oct. 28.

Jacobs and Manzelli are teaching colleagues at Tunxis Community College. They connected through shared experience and a personal need to expand their work to reach a wider audience. They decided to see how they might work together to meet those individual goals.

At first glance their work looks very different, yet it feels comfortable together because the artists reflect each other’s intent, not imagery. Mutual benefit, artistic freedom, incorporeal spirit and intellectual respect connect these two powerful artists. This show is about that Connection.

A music performance by Mr. Keys and The Breeze will take place Saturday, Oct. 7, from 4 to 6 p.m. Ken McManus and Gary Jacobs are a singer-songwriter, multi-instrumental duo. The suggested donation is $10 at the door.

An artist led workshop on watercolor botanicals will take place Sunday, Oct. 22, from 2 to 4 p.m. Registration is required. Cost to attend is $30.

A theater performance, The Mythology Project 2023, is a new short play inspired by Celtic mythology created by a team of local actors, writers, and artists. This performance features tales of the heroes Cuchulainn and Finn Mac Cumhaill, and real-life legend, Grace O’Malley, the “Pirate Queen of Ireland” told through playful storytelling that features music, audience participation, and comedy throughout.

Three performances are Sept. 28, 29 and 30, at 7 p.m. The suggested donation is $15. The Mythology Project 2023 is hosted at the Windsor Art Center and is directed by Amanda Pawlik.

The Windsor Art Center’s exhibition hours are as follows: Thursday, 6 to 8 p.m.; Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.; and Sunday, 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. For more information, visit www.windsorartcenter.org.

Performances are Thursday, Sept. 28, at 7 p.m.; Friday, Sept. 29, at 7 p.m.; and Saturday, Sept. 30, at 7 p.m. A talk back discussion will follow the Sept. 29 performance. The suggested donation is $15. Tickets may be purchased at the door. Visit https://www.eventbrite.com/e/the-mythology-project-tickets-698478507017 to reserve a seat.
