Community questions when H Mart is opening in Sacramento? Here’s what the supermarket chain says
(FOX40.COM) — Seven months after H Mart announced a new Sacramento location, community members are wondering when the store will open, as the building is still vacant.
In June, H Mart, a New Jersey-based Korean supermarket chain, announced it will open a location on 6366 Mack Road in south Sacramento.

The vacant building on Mack Road has a “H Mart coming soon” that has been displayed since last summer.

The supermarket chain didn’t announce an opening date, but still plans on opening a store in that building.
“Currently, we’re actively engaged in the preparations for the store renovation,” a representative from H Mart told FOX40.com in an email.
The planned Sacramento location will be H Mart’s first store in the area. H Mart currently has 17 locations across California including in San Francisco and San Jose.
Other nearby Asian grocers in the Sacramento area include 99 Ranch Market on 4220 Florin Road in Sacramento and KP International Market on 10971 Olson Drive in Rancho Cordova.

In addition to the grocery items, the new H Mart location will allow customers to grab food to-go from its food hall, which will feature Asian cuisines, according to a June press release.
“Carrying over from H Mart’s previous successes in California, H Mart’s first branch in South Sacramento will be the newest food lover destination,” H Mart President Brain Kwon said in the release. “Our main priority is always to serve and satisfy the needs of the surrounding communities.”
