The Bloom-Carroll community is rallying around a family who lost a 10-year-old son unexpectedly on Sunday morning.Bentley Spurlock, who played on his school’s football team, passed after being found unresponsive at a treatment facility in northern Ohio. He had suffered from encephalitis since 2020 which caused many undesirable side effects. In true community fashion, fundraising has begun by families in the Bloom-Carroll School District to help his parents and sister with funeral expenses. A Go-Fund Me account has been set up by the Spurlock’s neighbor, Laura Severing. The Go-Fund me information can be found on a Facebook page set up under the name of Bentley Spurlock Strong support group. All of the funds raised through this account will go directly to his parents to help pay for Bentley's final arrangements and funeral. Community members are invited to donate through the Go-Fund me page, listed under Bentley’s name.Supporters decided to create a dry-fit T-shirt for Bentley with 100% of all the proceeds go to the Spurlock family. The T-shirts depict Bently’s football jersey number, 77 and his name is on the back of the shirt. The shirts can be ordered at https://hoverapparel.com/…/client-pages/spurlock-strong/Bentley is survived by his mother, Chelsea, his father, Paul, and his younger sister, Maylee.Arrangements are being handled by Spence Funeral Home in Canal Winchester.
