Hometown Nurse Practitioner joins ProMedica Memorial

FREMONT - A local certified nurse practitioner is bringing a homegrown touch to Fremont and the surrounding communities. Alexandra Rojas, CNP, is a community member of Fremont and will be providing care to the city she calls home at ProMedica Memorial Hospital. She began practicing as a CNP in January 2023 and has advanced her medical career over the years.

Born and raised in Fremont, Rojas got her start at Memorial Hospital as a volunteer in high school at 16 years old and continued to learn at Memorial Hospital for over eight years. After volunteering, she began her medical career as a nursing assistant and then a registered nurse, all while developing her care philosophy to provide patient-centered and family-oriented care.

“My overall goal is to maintain health and well-being, so I like to make sure all health maintenance is taken care of,” she said. “I am happy that I can also offer cervical cancer screening and perform PAP tests as well, so you don't have to go elsewhere to get this health maintenance taken care of.”

Rojas said her passion for health care began when she was younger, helping care for her grandmother when she was sick. “That’s where it all began, I’ve always had a caring heart, so it was only natural to pursue a career in nursing.”

Rojas obtained her bachelor of science degree in nursing and master of science degree in nursing from the University of Toledo. Now as a CNP, she holds over 600 hours of clinical experience with John J. Hiestand, MD, and Iracema Arevalo, MD, both ProMedica providers in Fremont.

Rojas is fluent in both Spanish and English, helping support ProMedica’s efforts to be a diverse health care system, and to touch the 15% of the Fremont population that are Hispanic and Latino.

Rojas will be welcoming new patients at her locations in Port Clinton and Fremont. “I am here with the best interest of my patients so we can come up with a plan of care together that best fits you.”

She practices in Fremont on Mondays, Wednesdays and Thursdays and then in Port Clinton on Tuesdays and Fridays until noon. To schedule an appointment, please visit her profile at promedica.org/provider/alexandra-rojas-cnp-family-medicine.
