Croghan Colonial Bank Fremont West location celebrates grand re-opening
The Sandusky County Chamber of Commerce celebrated the re-opening of the Croghan Colonial Bank Fremont West’s drive-thru with a ribbon cutting ceremony Nov. 29.
The Croghan Fremont West office, 2001 W. State St., is back to regular lobby and drive-thru hours after the completion of construction on its drive-thru. Croghan made renovations to the drive-thru using local contractors and is excited for customers to use the new technology at the location.
“We’re happy to have the drive-thru up and going,” said Kendall Rieman, Croghan Colonial Bank President/CEO. “It’s new technology that people are using a little more than walking through the doors, so we’re happy to upgrade it and we’re looking forward to getting our clients back to using it.”
The Chamber was joined by Croghan employees, Chamber members and ambassadors and Sandusky County Commissioners Russ Zimmerman and Scott Miller at the ribbon cutting.
“Croghan Colonial has been a staple of our community for many years,” said Commissioner Scott Miller. “It’s great to see they are this forward thinking and have the drive-thru updated the way it is.”

Baez speaks to Fremont Lions Club
Carlos Baez, Sandusky County Engineer was the guest speaker at the recent meeting of Fremont Lions Club. Baez, from Colombia, is a former American Field Service exchange student in Fremont in the 1994-1995 school year at Fremont Ross High School.
He is a graduate of the University of Toledo and became an American citizen in 2000. Baez was appointed the Sandusky County Engineer in 2019 upon former Engineer Jim Moyer’s retirement and was elected to the position in November. He presented an informative scope of the responsibilities and services provided by the 28 employees through the office of the Sandusky County Engineer.
Also present were two of the three October Students of the Month. Alana Smith from Fremont Ross and Tyler Kocsis from Bishop Hoffman shared their school activities and future goals. LaBronze Barnett from Fremont Ross was unable to be present.
The next meeting is Tuesday at the Fremont Eagles Hall. Kimberley Foreman, Sandusky County treasurer, will be the speaker.
The group will have a Christmas party and dinner at 6:30 p.m. Dec. 21 at Victor’s Catering (formerly Anjulina’s). Reservations will be needed. Members and guests are welcome to attend and may call Colleen Carmack, president, at 419-680-3722 for further information.

Area county auditors elected to district offices
The Northwest District of the County Auditors’ Association of Ohio (CAAO) installed officers for 2022 at the annual Winter Conference. Those installed were Ottawa County Auditor Jennifer Widmer as president, Van Wert County Auditor Phillip Baxter as vice president and Wood County Auditor Matthew Oestreich as secretary/treasurer. The Honorable Jason Stephens served as the installation officer for the ceremony on Nov. 18.
The district works closely with the CAAO Columbus office to monitor legislative proposals that impact local taxpayers and to offer initiatives that assist County Auditors in carrying out their duties.
