PORT CLINTON - The staff and volunteers at the Family Advocacy Center worked on Dec. 12 packing 500 bags of food to be distributed at Ottawa County Schools.

This food is given to children that are at risk of food insecurity while on breaks from school.  The Family Advocacy Center routinely provides meal bags to all of the schools in Ottawa County to be used to assist with those families that experience food shortages.  For more information or to help with the project, contact the center at 419-301-0225.

Oak Harbor Development Group elects officers

OAK HARBOR - At the most recent meeting of the Oak Harbor Development Group, they elected the 2024 Officers as follows: President Mike Shadoan, Vice-President DJ Everett and Treasurer/Secretary Valerie Winterfield.

The Oak Harbor Development Group is an all-volunteer group created in 2015 with the purpose to bolster economic development and foster a growth-friendly environment for both businesses and residents alike.

The Oak Harbor Development Group works closely with the Village of Oak Harbor on projects each year. Current projects include: accessible/family swings at Veterans Park, fitness stations on the walking path at Veterans Park and Riverfront Developments on Mill Street.

The Oak Harbor Development Group is also responsible for securing sponsors for the downtown flower planters each spring and the sale of veterans banners every other fall. They are currently accepting sponsors for the veterans banners that will be hung in spring of 2024. Forms are available at the Oak Harbor Chamber of Commerce office at 161 W. Water St.

GLCAP agency to hold mobility committee meetings

FREMONT- Mobility Management, a service of Great Lakes Community Action Partnership (GLCAP) that helps counties better coordinate transportation services for residents, will host transportation advisory committees in December regarding amendments to the following counties' Coordinated Public and Human Services Transportation plans.

The meetings will be held at the following times and locations:

● Ottawa County — Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. — Oak Harbor Public Library, 147 W. Main St., Oak Harbor;

● Crawford County — Dec. 20 at 1 p.m. — Bucyrus Public Library, 200 E. Mansfield St., Bucyrus;

● Erie County — Dec. 20 at 11:30 a.m. — Milan Public Library, 19 Church St., Milan;

● Huron County — Dec. 20 at 10 a.m. — Norwalk Public Library, 46 W. Main St., Norwalk;

● Seneca County — Dec. 20 at 3 p.m.  — Tiffin-Seneca Public Library, 77 Jefferson, St., Tiffin;

● Wood County — Dec. 20 at 2 p.m. — Wood County District Public Library, 251 N. Main St., Bowling Green.

Transportation advisory committees in each county discuss gaps in local transportation services and develop strategies to better meet local transit needs. Meetings are open to the public. Details on GLCAP’s Mobility Management program are available at glcap.org/mobilitymanagement.

Fremont sets tree drop off locations

Free ELMS dinner set for Thursday in Port Clinton

PORT CLINTON - The free ELMS Community meals sponsored by Peace Lutheran and St. Thomas Episcopal churches will be 5 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 21 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church, East Second St.

They will serve ham, cheesy potatoes, vegetables and dessert. This is carryout only.
