Chari Mullen inducted into Vanguard Tech Hall of Fame

FREMONT - Vanguard Sentinel Career and Technology Centers announced that Chari Mullen is the newest member of the Vanguard Tech Center Hall of Fame, honored with this distinction on March 21.

Mullen is a 1997 graduate of Fremont Ross High School and Vanguard Computer Business Application program. She went on to further her education and is working toward a PhD in public policy and administration from Walden University.  She has already earned a master of business administration in leadership from Tiffin University, a bachelor of criminal justice in justice administration from Tiffin University, and an associate of arts and sciences in social and behavioral science at Terra State Community College. 

Mullen was named the inaugural Diversity and Inclusion Director for the City of Fremont in 2020.  She credits her Career Tech Education for giving her a solid foundation and the confidence necessary to enter the workforce and find success.

Fisk Jubilee Singers to perform for President Hayes’ 200th Birthday Celebration

FREMONT- The Fisk Jubilee Singers from Fisk University in Nashville, Tennessee, will perform on Sunday, April 2, in Fremont as part of President Rutherford B. Hayes’ 200th Birthday Celebration.

A public concert will be held at Grace Lutheran Church, 705 W. State St. The Hayes Presidential Library and Museums is bringing the group to Fremont as one of the major events in the ongoing commemoration of President Hayes’ 200th birthday, which was Oct. 4, 2022.

The concert begins at 3 p.m. Light refreshments will be served after the performance.

Tickets are $10 for ages 18 and older, $5 for ages 13-17 and free for kids 12 and younger. Tickets are available online at rbhayes.org/fisk.

The Fisk Jubilee Singers are students at Fisk University and have sung for audiences worldwide since the original group was formed in 1871 to help raise money for the university. At that time, Fisk was the only university that offered a liberal arts education to young men and women irrespective of their race, and it was struggling to stay open.

Omar Abuaita retires from Evergreen Recycling

CLYDE - Evergreen Recycling LLC, North America’s third largest producer of rPET, announced the retirement of CEO Omar Abuaita. Abuaita has been an integral leader of the Evergreen team since 2019 and has made significant contributions to the growth and success of the company.

“It has been my absolute privilege and honor to work alongside a wonderful hard-working team. We have built a fantastic, dynamic, and “very” fast growing company and the future is bright,” says Abuaita.

Abuaita joined Evergreen Recycling LLC, and sister-company, Greenbridge LLC as CEO in December 2019. During his tenure, he oversaw the expansion of the company's recycling capabilities and the implementation of new recycling technologies, which have helped the company achieve significant growth and success. As a result, for 2023 Evergreen has the capacity to produce 240 million pounds of recycled PET to some of North America’s favorite companies.

Under his leadership, Evergreen has grown from one location in Clyde, to four locations in North America including Riverside, California; Albany, New York; and Amherst, Nova Scotia, Canada, making Evergreen North America’s third largest producer of recycled PET. Additionally, Evergreen has secured a new headquarters in Fairview Park, in Cleveland, Ohio.

Joining Evergreen as CEO is Gary Alstott, formerly president of Small Packaging at Mauser Packaging and prior senior leadership roles at Novolex, Signode Industrial Group and several automotive manufacturing companies.

Fremont Century 21 agents receive award

FREMONT - Angela Heiberger and Cynthia Gabel, both with Century 21 Wilcox and Associates in Fremont, were recognized with the Century 21 2022 Quality Service Pinnacle Producer Award.

These agents were to receive a customized glass trophy, in addition to being recognized at the March Century 21 Global Conference.

The annual award is based on results from the Century 21 Quality Service Survey which is e-mailed to consumers immediately after the purchase or sale of a home. To earn the the Pinnacle Producer Award, an agent must receive completed customer surveys for at least 80% of their transactions surveyed from Jan. 1 to Dec. 31, with an average survey score of at least 95% or better for two consecutive years.
