ProMedica announces ROSE, DAISY recipients

FREMONT – ProMedica Memorial Hospital is proud to announce the winners of the ROSE and DAISY Awards for Q4 in 2022.

Renee Meza, RN, is the DAISY Award recipient and Amy Roth, CC-SLP, is the ROSE Award recipient.

The DAISY Award is presented to a deserving nurse to celebrate the extraordinary compassion they provide patients and families every day. The award began in 1999 and is dedicated to the life of Patrick Barnes who was hospitalized for eight weeks after having a dangerously low blood platelet count. His family appreciated the compassionate care Patrick received and wanted to do something to recognize those who provide care on a day-to-day basis.

Just days after he passed, Patrick's family began talking about what they would do to help fill Patrick's void. His wife, Tena, came up with the acronym, DAISY, standing for Diseases Attacking the Immune System (DAISY). Through this award, the hope is that each nurse who receives the award truly recognizes the positive impact they have on the patients in their care.

The ROSE Award was established in 2020 by ProMedica to recognize outstanding employees in all roles in the hospital. This award celebrates the extraordinary efforts of the non-nursing employees who provide outstanding patient services in any position.

Anyone in the community can nominate an extraordinary nurse for a DAISY award or an outstanding non-nursing employee for a ROSE award. At the end of each quarter, one employee will be selected for the DAISY Award and one will be selected for the ROSE Award.

Art Garage to host 'Then, Now, and Always' exhibit

PORT CLINTON - The Greater Port Clinton Area Arts Council is delighted to announce the next exhibit at The Arts Garage (TAG) — “THEN, NOW, AND ALWAYS” by Marsha Gray Carrington, opening in March.

“THEN, NOW, AND ALWAYS” will be a retrospective the Sandusky residents work from 2015 to the present, as well as earlier pieces created between 1985 and 2000.

Carrington’s work is diverse, driven by her passion to create things. She works in three main mediums: abstract expressionism, “ink blots” and photography.

“While the images in this show are quite diverse, they all represent who I am and my artistic exploration and journey, which is a continuum,” Carrington said.

The exhibit’s opening reception will be from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 3, at TAG. All are welcome. The show runs from March 1 through March 26.

The Arts Garage is in the city’s old maintenance garage at 317 W. Perry St. in downtown. Hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Wednesday through Sunday and by appointment. TAG is closed Monday and Tuesday.
