FREMONT — ProMedica Memorial Hospital has announced announce winners of the second-quarter Rose and Daisy Awards.

The Daisy Award is presented to a deserving nurse to celebrate the extraordinary compassion nurses provide patients and families every day. The award began in 1999 and is dedicated to the life of Patrick Barnes, who was hospitalized for eight weeks after having a dangerously low platelet count. His family appreciated the compassionate care Patrick received and wanted to do something to recognize those who provide care on a day-to-day basis.

The Rose Award was established in 2020 by ProMedica to recognize outstanding employees in all roles in the hospital. This award celebrates the extraordinary efforts of the non-nursing employees who provide outstanding patient services in any position.

Community foundation plans July gala

PORT CLINTON — The Ottawa County Community Foundation (OCCF) will have its first Doing Good Gala, a live auction fundraiser, at 6 p.m. July 25 at the Catawba Island Club pavilion. “OCCF is quickly approaching a major milestone," its 25th anniversary in 2024, said Shea McGrew, the foundation's executive director. "We wish to honor the legacy of our founder, Joy Roth, and propel OCCF into the next quarter-century. With this signature event, we invite the community to help provide the resources for OCCF to address the pressing needs of our area … into the future."
