Community Sale to benefit the Clay Capital Heritage Center

A Community “Yard Sale” will be held Friday, June 24 and Saturday, June 25 in Uhrichsville from 10 a.m.-5 p.m. each day with all proceeds donated to the Clay Capital Heritage Center to help cover renovation expenses as they move into their larger facility in Uhrichsville. The new facility will be at the corner of E Third and Main Street in the heart of Uhrichsville’s Central Business District.

In addition, there will be a sneak peek preview of the items for sale on Thursday, June 23 from 5-7 pm with a $5 admission fee.

“We have been collecting donations of furniture, building materials, tools, appliances, household goods, home décor, lawn and garden, sporting goods, holiday décor, toys, vintage jewelry & clothing plus lots of misc items. Donations have primarily come from members and friends of the Dennison Depot, Clay Center or Schoenbrunn facilities,” said Rita McPeak, Event Chair and Clay Center Advisory Board Member.

The sale will be held inside the former Browse & Buy store/Twin City Hardware Building at 223 N. Water St. (just off the corner of N Water & E Third). Parking is free.

“We are also arranging for some food trucks on site to help make this a festive event,” said McPeak.

Uhrichsville will be busy that weekend with several other activities in the downtown. On Saturday, June 25, the First United Methodist Church will be hosting a Summer Festival from 12 to 6 p.m. A reunion and homecoming for alumni of Claymont, St. Mary’s, Uhrichsville and Dennison schools will be held at the Uhrichsville Elks beginning at 3 p.m. with dinner at 5:30. A new store, Camp Your Backyard (107 E Third) will be holding their Grand Opening that same day.

The Clay Capital Heritage Center is the official new name of the venue formerly called the Uhrichsville Clay Museum.

“The Board approved this name change (which was prompted by a suggestion from State Sen. Jay Hottinger) as a way to better reflect it’s mission of education and respect for the importance of the Clay Industry to the greater Uhrichsville area’s economic history,” said Wendy Zucal, Executive Director of the Dennison Depot Museum Systems. The System operates the Depot, the Clay Center and Historic Schoenbrunn Village.

Additional donations will be accepted through Wednesday, June 22. To donate, please contact McPeak at 925-8904042 to arrange a drop-off.
