Community star Yvette Nicole Brown confirms engagement

Community star Yvette Nicole Brown has confirmed her engagement to partner Anthony Davis.
The actress and comedian announced the happy news during Tuesday's (December 12) instalment of US chat show The View, where she was stepping in for regular co-host Joy Behar while she was off sick (via Entertainment Weekly).
Speaking to the show's moderator Whoopi Goldberg, Brown said: "Hi, Ms Whoopi. I have some news. I heard The View is the place to announce things like this. I'm engaged!"

Brown went on to explain how she and Davis first met in a church acting class and became platonic friends, before going their separate ways and later reconnecting after the passing of Brown's mother in 2021.
When asked how Davis proposed, the actress shared: "An auditorium was named after me at my old high school, it was so many things, we were celebrating that, and then we were at a party, and he gave me a [lottery scratch card], and on the scratcher it said, 'Will you marry me?'
"I thought I was going to win some money, and I won a man."
Davis, who happened to be in the studio audience, said of his bride-to-be: "She's just the most beautiful person in the world."

Brown is perhaps best known for her role as Shirley Bennett in the long-running sitcom Community. Fans are hoping the character returns for the upcoming Community movie, but it's not yet confirmed whether she'll return.
Despite excitement for the film, creator Dan Harmon gave fans a disappointing update back in October, suggesting the Hollywood strikes put schedules up in the air.
"By the time we can recoordinate, what are the odds that everyone's schedule is going to once again align?" he told The Hollywood Reporter.
Community is available to stream via Netflix in the UK, and Netflix and Hulu in the US.
