Here are the companies the Yahoo Finance team is watching for you today.

A big merger in the mining sector: Newmont Mining is buying Goldcorp in a $10 billion all-stock deal. It will create the world's largest gold miner, and comes amid a wave of consolidation in the industry. Just last year, Barrick Gold bought Randgold for $6 billion.

A deal could be in the works in the newspaper industry too: The Wall Street Journal says a hedge-fund backed media group has its eyes on Gannett. That's the publisher of USA Today and numerous other newspapers. USA Today is reporting that Gannett has yet to receive any formal offer.

Lululemon is expecting a big quarter: The retailer just raised its revenue and earnings guidance. It added that it expects comp store sales to come in much better than expected. The wild card is changes in tax law. They could help or hurt but the company isn't quite sure yet just what it will do for their bottom line.

GM's Cadillac is giving us a sneak peek at its first-ever electric car. The automaker just released these teaser photos of the vehicle. This comes after GM announced Cadillac will take the lead in the company's efforts toward an all-electric future. No word yet on a name, release date, or price.

Apple's HomePod is finally going to China: The company said the smart speaker will be available in mainland China and Hong Kong starting January 18. The Siri-controlled device will cost about $400. Apple is trying to better compete with cheaper options from local competitors amid a slowdown in China's economy.
