Complaint brings retirement for South Jersey radiologist

TRENTON - A longtime South Jersey doctor has agreed to retire to resolve a complaint before a state regulatory board.

Dr. Satish P. Shah, a radiologist who had offices in Vineland, is to return his medical license under a consent order with the State Board of Medical Examiners.

Shah held his medical license for 47 years, according to the state Department of Consumer Affairs.

His retirement comes after the board received a complaint that Shah "allegedly failed to detect fetal abnormalities in two obstetric ultrasounds," the order says.

The complaint alleged Shah's actions "may have resulted in delay of care and management of the patients."

Shah's retirement will be considered "a permanent revocation" of his license, the Nov. 29 order says.

It says Shah agreed to retire "in order to fully resolve all outstanding inquiries" and that the doctor was waiving his right to a board investigation or a formal hearing."

Shah "shall have no right to reapply for licensure at any future time," the order notes.

An attorney for Shah could not be reached for immediate comment.
