A Complete Breakdown of Everyone Who Could Be the Next Bachelor

Before Hannah Brown's season of The Bachelorette even ended, people were already betting on who the Bachelor will be next year. Not that we blame them. I mean, Brown has left us with some pretty fantastic contenders.

There's Mike Johnson, an obvious front-runner, who would make history as the franchise's first black and veteran Bachelor. There's also Peter Weber, whose breakup with Brown made even the most cynical Bachelor viewers tear up.

Below, we've compiled a complete breakdown of all the men who could reasonably become the next Bachelor. Read on!

Mike Johnson

The chances of Johnson suiting up for The Bachelor are high. Not only is social media clamoring for it, but several of his fellow contestants are too. "I’m really hoping Mike’s the next Bachelor because I think he wears his heart on his sleeve," Dylan Barbour, who appeared on Brown's season, tells Glamour. "Based off the first impression, I was really intimidated by Mike. But after talking to him, he’s a great guy, he’s a real teddy bear, and he’s also strong at the same time. He’s intelligent and really in tune with himself, so I hope he’s able to have the opportunity to find love."

Adds John Paul Jones, another Bachelor contender: "I think it would be pretty cool to see Mike Johnson as the next Bachelor. I think he’s definitely a fan favorite, and there’s never been an African American Bachelor, so that would be interesting to watch.”

As for how Johnson feels about the job, he tells Glamour, "The hesitation is because I don’t do it for…to be the first veteran Bachelor. I would do it because I feel the 30 potential suitors are there for the right reasons. I know that in Bachelor and Bachelorette, love can happen in this process. I just want to make sure the 30 suitors are there for the right reasons as well."

There is a hive of fans on Twitter who think JPJ, and his infamous hair, should be the next Bachelor. Here are just a few people in this camp:

Jones, for his part, is open to the idea. “I think you have a little bit more control of your fate in that scenario,” he tells Us Weekly. “I’d definitely have to think about it, for sure.”

Garrett Powell

Powell spent his final few episodes of The Bachelorette feuding with Luke Parker. Nevertheless, some fans were able to see past that drama and think the 27-year-old is perfect for The Bachelor.

Peter Weber

Weber seemed genuinely devastated by his breakup with Brown. Bachelor Nation is feeling for him hard-core, despite the fact that he's one of the many dudes from Brown's season with preshow-girlfriend drama. All that sympathy, though, could secure him the job as our new Bachelor.

As for whether or not Weber would accept the role, he tells People, "I know this whole situation didn’t work out the way I was hoping, but Hannah truly showed me a different love than I had ever felt. So it’s given me hope that I have more love to find. I wouldn’t say no to trying it again because I know the experience works. And I’m hopeful that my person is right around the corner.”

In late August, Reality Steve tweeted that Weber was indeed the frontrunner. "When the 'Bachelor' announcement is officially made (guessing next week or the following), it will be Peter Weber," he wrote. "Not too surprising. That’s who I’ve said I thought it would be for the last month. This isn’t isn’t a guess, a prediction, or 'most likely.' It’s him."

Us Weekly is also reporting that Weber is currently the top choice. "Fans love Mike, but Peter has been the producers’ front-runner all along,” a source told the publication. “They also looked into how viewers responded to this year’s Bachelor in Paradise contestants.”

Tyler Cameron

Brown didn't end up choosing Cameron—but now he's dating Gigi Hadid, so who knows what that means for his next move in Bachelor Nation. If that relationship fizzles, he'll shoot to the top of the list of Bachelor contenders. For one, he's so hot it hurts, but also he's one of the few finalists this season to remain scandal-free. The Twitter thirst for him is also pretty unreal.

Derek Peth

Bachelor in Paradise fans have taken to the internet to plea for Peth to be the next Bachelor after how he's handled his relationship with Demi and her coming-out. He's even got a hashtag: #DerekForBachelor. "@BachelorABC I have found your next bachelor...@PethDerek," one fan tweeted. "He’s handsome, sweet, loyal...and been royally screwed on this show multiple times. He deserves a happy ending!!"

Let the countdown to the next Bachelor announcement begin.
