Complete list of winners and nominees for the 2022 Tony Awards
"A Strange Loop" took top musical honors while "The Lehman Trilogy" was named top play at the American Theatre Wing's 75th Tony Awards honoring Broadway's best. "Company," "MJ" and "SIX: The Musical" are some of the other multiple-award-winning productions taking home awards.
When the nominations were handed out earlier this year, three Broadway productions garnered double-digit honors: "A Strange Loop" (11), "MJ" (10) and "Paradise Square" (10) led all nominees.
The early awards presentations, or Act One as they were called, were hosted by Darren Criss and Julianne Hough, while the prime-time section of the show was hosted by recent Oscar winner Ariana DeBose. The event was broadcast from Radio City Music Hall in New York City on CBS and streamed on Paramount+.
Special Tony Awards were presented to James C. Nicola, the artistic director of New York Theatre Workshop since 1988, while the 2022 Tony Honors for Excellence in the Theatre went to the Asian American Performers Action Coalition, Broadway for All, music copyist Emily Grishman, Feinstein’s/54 Below and United Scenic Artists, Local USA 829, IATSE. Robert E. Wankel was awarded the Isabelle Stevenson Tony Award.
