Complete Thanksgiving meals: Here's how to order from grocery stores

If you're looking to leave the Thanksgiving cooking to someone else and don't want to order from a restaurant, southeast Michigan grocery stores are here to help.

Many offer a selection of complete Thanksgiving meal options. Some offer fully prepared and cooked Thanksgiving meals, which need only to be reheated. Others have the turkey prepped and ready for you to take home and cook yourself. And if it’s only the sides you want, from green bean casserole to mashed potatoes to pints of gravy, some stores offer those as well.

Get your order in soonas stores will have cut-off dates for ordering. Keep pick-up times in mind. Some stores are closed on Thanksgiving and dinners are to be picked up the day before.

Here's a sampling of what grocery stores are offering:

Better Health Market and Cafe

What: Order full or a la carte meals of turkey or plant-based Thanksgiving meals. Turkeys are all-natural, fresh Amish, non-GMO and organic. Also available are plant-based turkey or a vegan quinoa roast. Available side dishes include green bean casserole, stuffing, cranberry-orange relish, sweet potatoes, gluten-free cornbread, carrot or sweet potato soufflé, fingerling or smashed redskin potatoes and more. Complete meals for four start at $59. A meal for eight is $119. Available at these Better Health locations: East Lansing, Novi, Shelby Township, Bloomfield Hills, Beverly Hills, Southgate and Plymouth.

Busch's Fresh Food Market

What: Completely cooked and ready-to-reheat dinners. Choose from Busch's herb-rubbed turkey breast, Busch's spiral sliced ham, Dearborn spiral sliced ham, or Plainville turkey. Another option is Busch's garlic pepper rubbed rib roast, which is uncooked at pick-up. Each meal comes with three sides. Choose from cranberry orange relish, seasoned green beans, cheesy potatoes, mashed potatoes, roasted redskin potatoes, scalloped potatoes or whipped sweet potatoes. The turkey breast meal serves four to six people, all other dinners serve six-eight people. Cost ranges from $55 to $179 per meal.

Holiday Market, Royal Oak

What: Meal includes a 10- to 12-pound, all-natural, free-range turkey, oven-ready with aromatic herbs and butter. Sides include 2 pounds each of whipped sweet potatoes, mashed potatoes and vegetarian sage stuffing. There's 1 pint of gravy, 1½ pounds of garlic green beans, six portions of Michigan Cherry Salad, 8 ounces of brandied cranberry chutney, half dozen freshly baked European-style rolls with garlic chive butter and a 10-inch pumpkin pie. Serves four to six; $195. It's $325 for a 10- to 12-person serving and includes increased side-dish amounts. You can also order 10- to 22-pound fresh turkeys separately or a smoked turkey.

Kroger

What: Several dinner options are available and include turkey (regular, smoked, and boneless), ham and prime rib. An oven-baked turkey dinner serving six to eight includes a fully cooked 10- to 12-pound turkey, green bean casserole, sweet potato casserole, traditional stuffing, mashed potatoes, turkey gravy, 12-count Kings Hawaiian Rolls and a pumpkin pie. It's $75. Bone-in ham (4-5 pounds) dinner is $75 and prime rib (3-5 pounds) dinner is $85; both options include the same sides, rolls and pie. Ham or turkey meals can be upgraded to a Boar’s Head protein for an extra charge. You can also order items a la carte.

Lafayette Foods

Detroit

A half ham or whole turkey dinner feeds 8 to 10 people. The meal includes a 10 to 12 pound turkey or 1/2 ham, three pounds of mac n' cheese, three pounds of cornbread dressing, two pounds of gray, 1/2 pound of jellied cranberry sauce, 12 rolls and an 8-inch cherry or pumpkin or apple pie. Additional side items are $13.95 each for a 2-pound portion. Apple or peach cobbler is $14.95 for a two-pound portion. A half turkey dinner serving 4 to 6 people is available for $64.95. On Thanksgiving Day the store will have individual Thanksgiving dinners available from 8 a.m.-5 p.m.

A deluxe turkey dinner is $59.99 and includes a 10- to 12-pound pre-baked Butterball turkey, stuffing, roasted turkey gravy, mashed potatoes, green bean casserole, cranberry relish and a dozen King’s Hawaiian dinner rolls. A deluxe ham dinner is $59.99 and features 7- to 9-pound spiral ham and the same side dishes. Both dinners serve eight to 10 people. Order at the deli counter or call 866-518-4293.

What: Turkey and ham dinners. The turkey feast features a turkey breast, gravy, stuffing, mashed potatoes, rolls, green bean casserole with mushrooms, candied sweet potatoes, orange cranberry relish, sweet corn sauté, choice of fruit pie (apple, cherry or pumpkin). It serves four and is $99.99. The ham dinner features a Dearborn honey-glazed ham, grilled pineapple with cherries, scalloped apples, Parmesan roasted potatoes, rolls, green bean casserole, sweet potatoes, cranberry relish, sweet corn sauté, choice of fruit pie (apple, cherry or pumpkin). It's $99.99. You can pick up either dinner hot or cold and reheat it. Items are also available a la carte.

Papa Joe’s Gourmet Market and Catering

What: Thanksgiving dinner package includes choice of roasted turkey or Dearborn spiral-sliced ham, as well as a choice of salads and sides such as stuffing, potatoes and vegetables. All dinners come with house-baked rolls and butter, citrus spread cranberry relish, turkey gravy (gluten-free) and classic pumpkin pie. Dinners can be ordered hot or cold with reheating instructions. It’s $29.99 per person with a five-person minimum. Smaller meal packages are also available. Orders for 10 people receive a whole turkey; orders for five-nine people receive a turkey breast.

What: A selection of catering options includes dinner packages serving two to 10. A Thanksgiving dinner package that serves eight includes 14- to 16-pound all-natural, pre-seasoned whole turkey stuffed with a mirepoix (celery, onions carrots) with gravy and house-made cranberry sauce. The meal package comes with 2½ pounds of traditional vegetarian stuffing and crème Fraîche mashed potatoes. Cost is $300. Other holiday dinner packages range from $80 to $200 and include a vegan or ham option.

Whole Foods Market

What: There are several packages from which to choose, with prices based on the items included and number of servings. Many are already sold out for online ordering; be sure to check with individual stores. A fully cooked, ready-to-heat, classic roast turkey dinner includes the turkey, creamy mashed potatoes, traditional herb stuffing, cranberry orange sauce, turkey gravy and green beans with roasted shallots. It serves four for $84.99; eight for $139.99 or 12 for $189.99.

Whole Foods Market also teamed up with chef Chloe Coscarelli to curate a vegan meal for for two that includes cremini mushroom roasts, mushroom gravy, miso creamed greens, coconut sweet potato casserole, jalapeno cornbread dressing and pumpkin curry soup. It's $39.99 and is available while supplies last.
