'A completely unique experience': Sail to Greenland's northern tip on this expedition cruise

If you have ever fancied yourself an explorer, now's your chance to give it a try. Aurora Expeditions will sail a new itinerary to Greenland's northern tip this summer, a destination not frequented by expedition cruises, according to the company.

During the nearly two-week East Greenland Explorer cruise, travelers can take in massive icebergs, deep fjords and wildlife in the water and on land.

"We invite you to join us and be part of a trailblazing 'exploratory voyage,' where the itinerary is driven by nature and Aurora’s genuine spirit of exploration," Hayley Peacock-Gower, Aurora's chief marketing officer, said in a news release. "Aurora Expeditions continues to focus on increasing awareness of the thought-provoking and inspiring regions it visits through immersive and educational experiences to create life-long advocates of our planet."

Where will the East Greenland Explorer cruise sail?

The cruise will sail round-trip from Reykjavik, Iceland, cross to Greenland via the Denmark Strait and aim for the northernmost part of Greenland.

"If successful, the North of Greenland, wild and untouched, offers breathtaking landscapes and a completely unique experience," the company said on its website.

The exact itinerary will depend on the weather and ice conditions, with the expedition team designing the trip day by day, but Aurora plans to take passengers to Germania Land, Crown Prince Christian Land and other destinations. Guests can explore by Zodiac boat, go hiking, and spot whales, arctic foxes and more.

How much does the East Greenland Explorer cruise cost?

The voyage starts at $13,795 per person based on double occupancy and includes a hotel stay before the cruise; all meals; drinks like tea and coffee; soft drinks, beer and wine with dinner; gratuities; all shore excursions and more.

Aurora also is offering a 10% discount if guests book and make a deposit by Feb. 28. Round-trip flights from New York to Reykjavik start at $629 for economy and $1,872 for business class, according to Google Flights.
