CONCACAF disciplines Cruz Azul for altercation

MIAMI (AP) — Regional football governing body, CONCACAF, has fined Mexican club Cruz Azul and penalized goalkeeper Jesus Corona for an altercation after their Champions League semifinal against Club Tijuana last Wednesday.

The incident occurred after Cruz Azul's 2-0 victory at the Estadio Azul in Mexico City. Cruz Azul advanced with a 2-1 aggregate score.

CONCACAF says Tuesday in a release that disciplinary action against Tijuana is still pending.

Corona received a fine and an automatic one-game suspension for a red card, and CONCACAF added two more matches to his suspension. It says the additional punishment was "for unsporting behavior, specifically in the use of provocative language and gesticulations employed with the motive of inciting an opponent."
