Nearly a week after members of the British royal family took Buckingham Palace for the annual Trooping the Colour, a video has emerged that some believe shows a tense moment between the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.
The video, which has been circulated on Twitter, zooms in on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in a brief exchange during the national anthem. The two are seen sharing a few words, which lip readers maintain was the prince "scolding" his wife by firmly instructing her to "turn around."
Many Twitter users were quick to call out the tense exchange and the red flags it raised, especially with Meghan's sad reaction. "She looks like she is about to burst into tears," one observed.
At the same time, however, some jumped to Meghan's defense, given that she's still new to the royal family and is still on maternity leave. "She should have been taught proper protocol by now. That's his fault," wrote one Twitter user.
Said another, "He looked miserable on the balcony! Practically ignored Meghan while talking with his cousins. Then curtly told her to turn around. He was grumpy the entire day."
The Trooping on Saturday, which marks Queen Elizabeth's 92nd birthday with a gun salute and Royal Airforce flyby, was the Duchess of Sussex's first appearance since welcoming baby Archie on May 6th. While Prince Harry has continued to make appearances since welcoming his son, Meghan will reportedly continue her maternity leave until the end of summer while only attending a few engagements.
It's been said that Archie's christening will take place in late July.
