Concert by Chicago to celebrate Hooters 40th anniversary in Clearwater
Hooters will celebrate its 40th anniversary with a concert and breast cancer fundraiser by the classic rock band Chicago on Oct. 7 in Clearwater’s Coachman Park.
The concert by the Grammy-winning band and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame inductees will be at The Sound, the new amphitheater currently under construction. It will benefit breast cancer research at the Moffitt Cancer Center and Morton Plant Mease hospitals.
It is one of many ways Hooters will be celebrating. In honor of the anniversary, on the fourth of every month Hooters is hosting “throwback” events such as 83-cent chicken wings and $19.83 crab legs. The restaurant was incorporated on April Fools’ Day in 1983 and its first restaurant opened on Oct. 4 of that year at 2800 Gulf-to-Bay Blvd. in Clearwater.

Chicago, known for songs “You’re the Inspiration” and “Hard to Say I’m Sorry,” has been touring since 1967. It is now on tour in support of its 26th studio album, “Born for This Moment.” The band currently features original members Robert Lamm (keyboard, vocals), Lee Loughnane (trumpet, flugelhorn, backing vocals), James Pankow (trombone, backing vocals) and new lead vocalist Neil Donell.
