Conchata Ferrell, an actress on TV and the stage who played the sassy housekeeper Berta on the sitcom “Two and a Half Men,” has died. She was 77.

Ferrell was surrounded by her family when she died Monday of complications after cardiac arrest, KABC-TV reported.

“We are saddened by the loss of Conchata Ferrell and are grateful for the years she brought us laughs as Berta which will live on forever,” Warner Bros. said in a tweet.

In a career that spanned over more than four decades, Ferrell appeared in countless TV shows, including “L.A. Law” and “The Ranch.” She also had in credits in multiple Off-Broadway plays, such as “Love, Loss, and What I Wore,” and she won an Obie award for “The Sea Horse” in 1974.

The West Virginia-born actress appeared in more than 200 episodes of “Two and a Half Men,” which ended in 2015 after 12 seasons. Her role in the show earned her nominations for Emmy Awards. She also received an Emmy nomination in 1992 for “L.A. Law.”

In a tweet, “Two and a Half Men” star Jon Cryer described Ferrell as a “beautiful human.”

“Berta’s gruff exterior was an invention of the writers,” Cryer tweeted. “Chatty’s warmth and vulnerability were her real strengths.”
