Concord eSports to host “West Virginia High School Smash Open”

ATHENS, WV (WVNS) – One local university is hosting an esports tournament for high school students

Concord eSports is hosting the West Virginia High School Smash Open

High School students from across West Virginia will have the chance to compete in ‘Super Smash Bros.’

Inaugural Black History Month luncheon

The 1st place winner will receive a $500 scholarship.

Austin Clay, eSports Director for Concord eSports, says there are many opportunities in eSports for those who don’t want to compete.

“Not only can you get scholarship money to be a player, but you can get scholarship money for being a photographer, graphic designer, editor, ‘caster.” Clay told 59News.

The West Virginia High School Smash Open is on February 24th.
